USS Midway Museum

Historic Aircraft Carrier Museum in San Diego, California

Historic Aircraft Carrier Museum in San Diego, California

The USS Midway Museum is one of San Diego’s most recognizable waterfront attractions, offering visitors the chance to explore a real U.S. Navy aircraft carrier docked along the downtown Embarcadero. Located at Navy Pier, the museum brings together naval history, aviation exhibits, interactive experiences, and sweeping views of San Diego Bay.

Built as the USS Midway aircraft carrier, the ship served from 1945 to 1992 and became one of the most important symbols of American naval aviation during the 20th century. Today, guests can walk through the ship’s flight deck, hangar deck, below-deck spaces, restored aircraft exhibits, and hands-on displays that help explain life aboard an aircraft carrier. The museum features more than 30 restored aircraft and nearly 10 acres of exhibits and displays.

Visitors can take a self-guided audio tour, explore aircraft and cockpit displays, view flight deck exhibits, and learn about the sailors, pilots, and crews who served aboard the Midway. The experience is popular with families, military history enthusiasts, school groups, tourists, and San Diego locals looking for a meaningful day on the bay.

The USS Midway Museum is located at 910 N. Harbor Drive, San Diego, CA 92101. Standard operating hours are 10:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. daily, with last admission at 4:00 p.m. The museum is closed on Thanksgiving Day and Christmas Day.

Tickets, hours, and special events may change, so visitors should check the museum’s official information before planning a trip.
